Retrospective - the first weeks

The first post should say a little about the past ten days which have been exciting and wonderful.  To have all three daughters in the same city was the highlight.  Respectively, it had been two years; one year, and four months since each daughter left home to set off on their own adventures.  When we all reunited London seemed somehow magical.  The sun shone warmer, the coffee tasted better, and I´m sure I saw people smiling on the Tube!

After leaving home on 21 March, we spent the first two days in a hot and vibrant Singapore.  Sampling its delights and traditions - both new and old.  The infinity pool on the 59th floor of the colossal new Marina Bay Sands took our breath away - stately old Raffles Hotel, and in particular the Long Bar, cooled us.  There is no shortage of activities in Singapore, and thanks to the MRT, we moved with swift efficiency from one end of the island to the other.  We took the new glass cable car across to Sentosa Island, then back to the city for a soothing massage followed by Singapore chilli crab and plenty of Tiger beer, to finish the first day.  Another day and night of exploring and tasting before heading to Changi and our reunion flight.

I´ve only a few words about being upgraded to Qantas BC for both our Syd-Singapore and Singapore-London flights (!)  To sleep in pyjamas, in a bed is to arrive after the long haul flight refreshed and ready to go.  It´s quite simply.....the only way to fly!

A wonderful week in London, then the Eurostar to Paris to collect our Citröen.  Paris roundabouts then straight down the autoroute for two nights in the French countryside at Argenton sur Creuse and Montauban on the way to the Pyrenees and three weeks in Spain.

Plenty of stories and laughs along the way, though.
