"Cocco....cocco.....coccobellococco..."

......sung the young Italian beach hawker as he strided along the water's edge at Moneglia's beautiful 'blue flag' beach. "Cocco......cocco......coccobellococco...."  he repeated as he swung his basket of fresh, cold coconut pieces.  For 1E who could resist?

We discovered that a day on Moneglia's beach was a somewhat refined activity, that went something like this.

1.Arrive at the (sandy) beach in your day clothes, collect a key for the use of a pretty change room box
2.Choose a sunbed and umbrella to suit, 7.50E for the whole day
3.Hang your bag/towel on the hook on the underside of the umbrella (no sand getting into anything)
4.Walk down the decking path to the sea (no hot-sand-hopping to the water)
5.When hungry or thirsty, walk behind you to the beach trattoria for a delicious, inexpensive meal or snack
6.More swimming in the crystal clear, gently bobbing waves (no dumpers here), then afternoon coffee or drink delivered to your sunbed if required.
7.Siesta in your sunbed with the hood down for extra shade.
8.Around 6.30pm, warm shower and, in the change box, change back into day clothes
9.Walk across the road, choose a ristorante for dinner
10.With a piccolo gelato in hand (nocciola for me, fragola for signore, and ask S and E about meringa!) take an evening beach promenade.

Very civilised.  Sensible Italians.
We went back for a second full day.

Moneglia's protected beach.

Beach cafe just steps away

Pretty change boxes for your convenience

Sunbeds with adjustable shade hoods, umbrellas with hooks. Lovely.
