We love the bicycle culture throughout Europe. Paris, Berlin, Lucerne,Vienna and Copenhagen are perfectly suited to bike riding, and have great bike facilities for locals and visitors. We see bikes of all shapes and types; train stations have literally thousands of bikes lining the streets surrounding the station. I have been curious, though, about some of the bikes we have seen that look deserted, forgotten, abandoned. Locked by the station, they have flat tyres, rusting bodies and in some cases greenery growing through the frame. Where are their owners, and why have they abandoned their bikes? Did they forget where they parked them? Did they lose their key or combination? Maybe they bought a new bike and just abandoned the old one? Maybe something far worse? Who knows.
